A lucky tip off first thing on Saturday, sent the boys off to Swaledale. On the drive over we spotted a fantastic looking 20 foot slabby fall, which Liam depth tested by going for a swim (hangover cure). We decided it was deep enough to be runnable, but ideally needed a tad more water. We left it in the hope we could catch it in condition on the way back home.
After nearly two hours, we arrived at the put in. Liam had to use JB' s old topo, and Tom was in his new playboat that he'd never sat in before (long story), but spirits were high. After a few hours, some sweet lines and a mix up with the get-out, the boys got off the water with smiles all round. We ended up missing out the Kisdon's due to a mix up with the guide description, so we now have plenty to go back for. We also nearly lost the topo, as two smiley campers stole it and tried to bury it with a Liam's Werners! The kids of today!
After finishing the Swale, the team were hungry so we called in for some over-priced chips (with salad dressing - Liam?!) and beers in Aysgarth. It started lashing it down on the way home, and all the becks were running brown. We had to have one last look at this fall. Everyone
(except Tom who was sick at the top) was psyched for it. It was getting dark so we knew the video footage and photos would be poor, but it was a 'goer'. The photo shows the scale of the drop, even if the quality isn't too great! Liam got dibs, due to his dedicated scouting that morning, Shaun went second, Tom in third, and JB brought up the back. A perfect line, sweet take off and fast descent gave us all the adrenaline fix to finish the day. Definately one for the DC team to go back to, explore in full and catch in the daylight. All that was left was the long drive home. A perfect finish to a perfect day.Photos and video online at www.designcrisis.co.uk soon.
