Today Jonny and Tom finished two days filming for a new Yorkshire Television drama, ‘Strictly Confidential’. This is set to air in November, and looks like it should be rather saucy. Tom and Jonny provided kayak based safety cover to a raft building session, as well as acting as extras. They should be seen paddling about on the water activities, and then ‘acting’ (in the background) in a later scene!

We recently finished our first set of basic paddles, purely for practice and testing purposes. Earlier today they got put through their paces at the Tees Barrage white water course. We would have preferred to have given them a proper workout, but with current levels this wasn’t really possible. However, we did find that they had exceptional power and were great for quick strokes. The test model is constructed using four layers of Kevlar with a fibreglass core. Although the test blades have a wooden shaft, we expect the finished model to have a lightweight and tough carbon shaft, although we are experimenting with other ideas…
